This circa 1740 German -
fieldstone house was inspected near Mt. Airy, MD. The property included a
small two story school house, carriage house, and Dutch oven in back of the
house. Thick stone walls were characteristic of these farm homes and the slate
roof suggest a more wealthy landowner as these were imported from London at the
time. This is the original 255 year old roof and needed just minor
repair. The floor framing had seen many years of termite infestation,
however as the floor joists (timbers) were nearly 15 inches thick there was
still plenty of material to support the house. Most of the seven chimneys
needed to be relined and most of the electrical redone but the structure was in surprisingly
sound condition. Set on 35 acres this was an almost Williamsburg like
setting

Some rather frightening exterior wiring.
